**BEST IN BLUE**
It’s not every day that many of us get to be a part of something truly special and life-changing.
But that’s exactly what happened for us at the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department, after meeting 10 year old Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel of Texas.
DJ has terminal brain cancer. His dream has always been to become a cop.
With the help of nearly 20 local agencies in Mississippi & Tennessee, DJ’s dream of being sworn in as an honorary Law Enforcement Officer…came true this week!
DJ’s goal was to be sworn in by 100 agencies across the country. He has now exceeded his goal by more than 300 so far!
Y’all watch out! DJ just might have more power than all Law Enforcement Officers COMBINED
DCSD Sheriff Bill Rasco swore in DJ as an honorary Deputy…presenting him with a custom made head-to-toe uniform, hats, badges, a challenge coin, & DCSD swag for him & his two siblings.
DCSD SWAT Lt. Jonathan Prewitt & Criminal Investigations Exe. Asst. Kristen Prewitt also participated in helping make “Deputy DJ” feel welcome & a part of our team!
Thank you for #BackingTheBlue DJ.
Prayers to DJ & his family
It was truly an honor & privilege to meet this brave little boy with a big personality.
*Thank you to the Memphis Police Department for organizing such an amazing event & to all agencies who participated.
*The DCSD wants to also thank Emergency Equipment Professionals (EEP) in Horn Lake, MS for donating DJ’s uniform & custom designing it on such short notice. THANK YOU!
