Today was an exciting graduation day for the 1st session of the Desoto County Sheriff's Department Junior Deputy Camp 2022!
The kids were treated with a visit to the Sheriff's Department Aviation Unit hangar. Desoto County EMA Director Chris Olson spoke to the kids and put on a cool air show with the Sheriff's Department TH-67 helicopter. They heard from Deputy King and Deputy Watson about the Honor Guard Unit. They also made personalized cards to send encouragement to the officers of the Meridian Police Department who suffered the loss of Officer Kennis Croom, who was recently killed in the line of duty.
The day culminated with their graduation ceremony, with cookie treats served to them by some members of the DCSD Volunteers in Patrol program.
