Today is Farmworker Appreciation Day.
Desoto County has strong agricultural roots - and for the farmers in DeSoto County - those roots run deep.
That is especially true for Supervisor Jessie Medlin. He grew up on a farm, the son of a sharecropper, and milked cows and picked cotton as a kid. Now, when Supervisor Medlin is not working for the citizens of DeSoto County, he is working growing hay and raising cows. His kids grew up helping and now his grandchildren are learning about farm life and the importance of farming.
A picture from a friend reads “God looked down at his planned paradise and said, ‘I need a caretaker.’ So God made a Farmer.” Thank you to all the farm workers in Desoto County!
