Desoto County Emergency Services - 11/29/22 7:45am Severe Weather Update

11/29/22 7:45am Severe Weather Update

The risk for widespread severe weather for our area has decreased from a 4/5 Moderate Risk to a 3/5 Enhanced Risk overnight. We still expect to see strong to severe storms impact our county later today.

Key Points: Current Risk Level: Enhanced 3/5 Risk for Severe Weather Today Tuesday 11/29/2022

Primary Concern(s): Tornadoes/strong winds and large hail.

Timing: Thunderstorms could start around noon with the threat of strong to severe storms from 4pm-10pm.

Updates/Changes since last night (11/28)

1. The Moderate Risk (level 4 out of 5), has been suppressed southward toward central Mississippi.

2. The mostly likely corridor for strong, long-tracked tornadoes has shifted southward with the Moderate Risk. However, areas in the Enhanced Risk could still see a strong, long-tracked tornado.

3. The large hail threat has increased while the damaging wind threat has decreased.

We will update further throughout the day. Please remain weather aware and ensure you have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts such a smart phone app, weather radio, or text alerts.
