Desoto County Extension Office - Brussels Sprouts

Congrats, you made it to the 5th day of the challenge  That means you have walked 5 miles and eaten lots of nourishing vegetables all in just one week What a great accomplishment, keep it up!

Did you know frozen vegetables are just as heathy as fresh produce? That is because during the freezing process, the nutrients in fruits and vegetables are also “frozen.” This means that frozen vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals your body needs for good health even if they have been sitting in the freezer for a long time .

During the winter months, it can be challenging and expensive to find fresh produce. Don’t let that discourage you from eating healthier. Frozen vegetables are a convenient and budget-friendly option if you don’t have access to fresh produce.

Looking for an easy way to cook your frozen brussels sprouts?  Check out this crispy air fried brussels sprout recipe at http://extension.msstate.edu/publications/air-fryer-recipes

Looking for a fun way to walk today’s challenge mile? Get the family together for a decoration scavenger hunt. Choose a walk-friendly and safe neighborhood known for its over-the-top Christmas lights and have fun walking with your family. This is a great way to stay active while also spending quality time with loved ones.
