Lady Bearcats Take Rematch With Wiley, Extends Streak To Half Dozen
The Rust College women's basketball program defeated the Lady Wildcats of Wiley for the second time in three contests inside The Castle on Saturday, prolonging its win total to six straight in a 60-56 decision.
Wiley outplayed the Lady Bearcats in a number of categories such as field-goal and three-point percentage, rebounding, assists, and points off turnovers but championship caliber teams find a way to prevail even on off nights which Coach Jackson's squad did.
Katie Blackmon is beginning to shake off the rust (pun intended) after returning from her injury, contributing ten points, nine rebounds, and a game-high four blocks.
Ky'Lie Scott led the way on offense with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting while Shuntorri Rodgers went on the defensive for a contest-best four steals.
Taniah Bowers corralled double-digit rebounds once again to front the club at ten and tied for the assist co-lead at three along with Zoe Alexander.
Rust will battle Southern University of New Orleans for the first time since it returned from its athletic hiatus at 5 p.m. Saturday in search of its seventh straight victory.
