Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Marshall County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 4,040 students enrolled in Marshall County schools in 2019-2020, 58.6% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Marshall County students.

This is a 0.8% decrease from the previous school year.

Holly Springs Primary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Marshall County schools showed 58.6% students were Black or African American, 26.5% were White, 9.6% were Hispanic or Latino and 3% were Two or More Races.

There are 12 schools in Marshall County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
