Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black or African American highest represented background in Tunica County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 1,776 students enrolled in Tunica County schools in 2020-2021, 95.4% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Tunica County students.

This is a 0.8% decrease from the previous school year.

Rosa Fort High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Tunica County schools showed 95.4% students were Black or African American, 0.7% were Two or More Races and 0.6% were White.

There are five schools in Tunica County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
