Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black was most represented background in Coahoma County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 95.4% of the 1,057 students enrolled in Coahoma County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 3.5% decrease from the previous school year.

Coahoma County Junior-Senior High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 551 students.

A snapshot of Coahoma County School District schools showed 95.4% of students were Black and 1.3% white.

Coahoma County School District roughly covers four schools within Coahoma County and has a main office in Clarksdale.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
