2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Senatobia Municipal School District students?

Black students made up 54.6% of the 1,651 students enrolled in Senatobia Municipal School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.7% increase over the previous school year.

Senatobia Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 803 students.

A snapshot of Senatobia Municipal School District schools showed 54.6% of students were Black, 41.7% were white, and 1.1% Hispanic.

Senatobia Municipal School District roughly covers three schools within Tate County and has a main office in Senatobia.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
